LOVED(!!!!) this book. Loved it!! It's mesmerizing. It's romantic. It's unforgettable! Those words don't even begin to describe how amazing it is!! The narrator, presently in his 90s, tells us the incredible journey of his life as a circus labourer in the 1930's - during the depression. It's a life story and a love story ; an incredible tale full of laughter, violence and passion. I didn't think I would like a book about the circus, but believe me, you have to give it a try! The way it's presented reminded me a lot of The Notebook as well. The writing is above excellent. All the characters, from the protagonist - Jacob - to the drunks and the freaks, are all extremely vivid. You can feel their presence. Every time I opened the book I became completely consumed by Jacob's story, nothing else existed anymore, I was in his world. The plot is sweet and frightening and the ending is absolutely perfect. I would change nothing at all about this book. This has easily become my favourite book of the year, and no way can the movie make it justice (even with Pattinson!).
