Hex hall is a funny and exciting YA novel about a young witch who gets sent to a boarding school for supernatural kids.At first I didn't think I was going to like it much, it didn't wow me, but when it finally picked up midway through I found it very charming. The main character, Sophie, is very funny ("Grave dirt? Gross." Teehee). I actually laughed out loud a couple of times. She's an enjoyable character. A bit naive but that makes her believable. The others were ok. None of them really stick out but they have a lot of potential and we'll hopefully see them develop and evolve in the other books. The writing style is simple and bit juvenile at times. But it makes for a quick, light read. The plot was a bit predictable. I was still surprised by a few of the twists though. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.
