This was probably one of my favorite Sparks book. Katie has run away from her abusive husband and settles in a small town where she meets the man of her dreams; a widower left to raise his 2 kids. It was a darker book than the others. The writing style Sparks used makes it very intense; he switches from Katie to the abusive husband in a parallel sequence that makes you really anxious and on edge. Never wanting to put the book down. I found it exciting and I loved the anticipation. It's not the whole time though. There is still a lot of calm and happy, loving moments as well as some romance. A very bittersweet and tragic story about love, hope and second chances. As usual Sparks creates some well rounded and believable characters that you get to know and care for. He also produces great villains that you genuinely hate. He made me seriously want to drop kick Kevin in the head! I was fascinated by the way Sparks gets into the head of the husband and makes us see that he is a real psycho. The way he thinks is just... eerie!Another great Sparks novel that I imagine we'll be seeing on the big screen in the near future.
