Anna and the French Kiss

Anna and the French Kiss - Stephanie Perkins Awwwww *le sigh*. What an adorably romantic book. This is just a feel good, perfectly blissful story. I had a smile on my face the whole time.Against her wishes, Anna gets sent to Paris by her dad. Paris!! What the heck is she going to do? She doesn't even know a word of French and all her friends are here. In Atlanta. Plus, she just kissed Toph! Let's just say she isn't too happy about this. Though things change when she meets the gorgeous English accent speaking St-Clair. That's where the story starts, when they meet. Anna is funny and sarcastic. She's so optimistic but also critical, you can't help but adore her and her ignorance towards St-Clair's feelings. I liked how the friends were very present in the novel. They weren't just extra characters to try and add realism, they were a big part of Anna and her character. I could picture this all happening for real. The happiness, the hurt - real emotions! They had flaws people! Flaws!! *gasp*When I first saw this book I thought "Anna and the French Kiss? Really? How corny is this!?". Gaaaaah I was so wrong. Yes it's deeply romantic and has tons of clichés (it's in Paris -nuff said!) but Perkins took a simple teenage love tale and made it into this unbelievably sweet and fun story. Yes, fun! Every single page was pure fun. It wasn't annoying with lovesickness, it wasn't love at first sight, either, it was practical, and pure. It's all perfectly executed with tons of drama, heart wrenching moments and longing. Oh! the longing. The predictability of the ending didn't lessen my enjoyment of it. I loved loved loved the ending. It was, well, perfect. Who cares if it's predictable? This is probably the best chick-lit I've read, ever. Don't dismiss it for the cliché cover and title like I almost did, you will regret it!J'adore!!! :D
