The 11th book in the Southern Vampire series, much like the last, was a bit of a disappointment. Although I was still glad to read about Sookie again and I still liked it, the books aren't what they used to be. Maybe Charlaine is being influenced by the show!? (Which doesn't compare to the books, or follow them much after season 1)I'm finding that Sookie is loosing her voice in these books as they progress. She is not the same strong and fierce protagonist she once was. There was also NOT enough Eric and Pam. At all. They're the best characters in the book and not nearly present enough in this one. And, although I love Eric, I think I'm over the Sookie and Eric relationship. It feels like they're beating a dead horse. What made me love Eric isn't there anymore. I think she should try it out with Alcide, or even Bill again. He was sweet in this book.So it wasn't bad, I just expected more. There were still a few amusing moments and I'm happy with the end result of the plot. Good riddance. But I'm uncertain about how things are standing and how the story will develop in the following books. Let's hope Charlaine gets back up the ladder to her previous greatness. The books definitely don't have the charm they used to.
